Self-care tips in the run up to Christmas!
As we race towards Christmas, the chaos can be overwhelming, especially for parents juggling a million things. Take a breath, find your centre, and remember, it’s okay to prioritise yourself.
Try these quick grounding practices:
- Deep Breaths: Inhale slowly, exhale completely.
- Short Breaks: Steal moments for yourself, even if it’s just a few minutes.
- Nature Connection: Step outside, feel the fresh air.
- Mindful Pause: Pause and observe without judgment.
- Self-Care Snippets: Embrace small acts of self-care.
Self-Care is vital at any time but especially in stressful moments…
Here are three examples of small acts of self-care:
- Mini Meditation Break: Take a mindful pause. Find a quiet corner, close your eyes, and focus on your breath for just five minutes. Let go of tension and embrace calmness.
- Soothing Sips: Brew yourself a cup of your favorite tea or coffee. Savor each sip and let it be a moment of indulgence amidst the hustle.
- Tech-Free Timeout: Disconnect from screens for a brief moment. Whether it’s scrolling through social media or work emails, step away and give your eyes and mind a break.
These small acts may seem simple, but they can make a significant difference in grounding and recharging during busy times.
Unsurprisingly, I find some of my best self-care is done creatively!
- Expressive Journaling: Grab a journal and let your thoughts flow. Write freely without judgment, exploring your emotions and reflections.
- Artistic Doodling: Allow yourself to doodle or draw without any specific goal. It’s a therapeutic way to engage with your creative side.
- DIY Craft Session: Dive into a simple craft project. Whether it’s making greeting cards, crafting ornaments, or trying a new DIY, let your hands create.
- Mindful Colouring: Pick up an adult coloring book and lose yourself in the soothing act of colouring. It’s a calming and meditative way to unwind.
- Creative Writing: Try your hand at short stories, poetry, or even create your own affirmations. Engaging in creative writing can be a fulfilling and expressive outlet.
